Increasing Competitiveness in SBOS through ICT

ICT in farmers cooperatives

Funded by Land O Lakes through USAID funding is being implemented by the Kenya Dairy Sector Competitiveness Program  (KDSCP) aimed at increased incomes of small-holder dairy farmers. ICT has a direct role in enhancing small-holder farmers net pay. It helps producers associations manage costs and business performance.

The CoopWorks system that is being used in the programme warns management against pegging the milk price too high.

Increase in use of ICT will not only make the co-operative management transaparent through better reporting and generation of member statements, but also act as an value service to its members. Benefits of ICT in farmer co-operatives save the overhead costs of administration and what ever little is saved, is ploughed back to the farmers' pay. For presentations please follow this link
