Developing a website for your organization is a big step in promoting yourselves to the world. Getting visitors and attracting the relevant people to visit your site, is a totaly different thing. Skills are needed to attract clients and make them stay long in your site.
We had a site for our council
We had a site for our council but it died down. once the domain expired no one followed it up. We are now inn the process of developing one and I am afraid that that it will go the same way. I realize that the reason why the web site did not succeed is because we did not have the use of the website. Yes!! We build the website without knowing why were doing it what it would serve what interests people would have to visit. what shoul we do in order to succeed?

absolutely true!! i always wonder how one comes up with a website and get to have people know about it or rather market it if its usually marketed for publicity. so how is this done?

There are a few things one has to consider when building a website who are you targeting? what action do you want people to do when they vist your website/ information, place orders, make payments etc? once you are clera on who you are targeting ask yourself how would I attract people to my website? a few suggestions - SEO, metatags, metadat, use social media are a few ideas
