CoopWorks - Success Stories
CoopWorks is a computer system that helps farmer producer associations grow. It supports dairy and coffee producer member associations.It automates the produce intake, member records, accounting, stores, AI, shares, payroll among other modules toaling 12 in number. CoopWorks is an source system with no license fee with excellent user training courses and Service Providers offering support from all parts of the Country.
Tulaga Farmers Cooperative Society in Kinangop is a dairy cooperative. The cooperative was among the pioneers of CoopWorks in 2006 together with Oloolaiser FCS in Ngong, Keriita FCS in Kinangop and Wamunyu Dairies in Kikiima. Tulaga had a membership of 800 members at the start of computerization and now boasts of over 3000 members. In the words of Milka Thiongo, the secretary manager, increased membership was partly attributed to the trust and confidence in the cooperative because its computerization. As a result of increased membership, the cooperative has bought two coolers and deliver milk in two shifts without requiring additional staff.
CoopWorks has now been developed for the coffee inustry which was launced in December 2009. Two pilot sites, Kikiima in Kirieni and Kikiima in Mbooni are pioneering it.
